Curic fromCAD (Beta)
Curic fromCAD for SketchUp
Curic fromCAD is a SketchUp plugin developed to help import and control 2D CAD files.
It organizes your DWG/DXF drawings and prepares them for the next step: building 3D models from CAD with upcoming Curic tools.
Common problems with CAD imports:
• Too many layers, blocks, and extra “trash” data - normally there’s no way to see or manage them, because everything is merged into the SketchUp model, making it impossible to clean up or remove later
• Imported drawings do not provide tools to control or toggle layers and colors, even though these are the main ways 2D CAD geometry is managed in CAD software
• Overlapping lines are automatically cut and merged by SketchUp, breaking the original 2D geometry and overwriting layer information
• Components with messy axes due to poorly set CAD blocks
What fromCAD does:
• Group and organize geometry by layers and folders
• Provide a flexible way to extract and manage 2D CAD data
• Clean up blocks, texts, and align drawings to the origin
• Control curve detail for smoother results
This is the beta version, and it will continue to improve as part of Curic’s workflow from 2D CAD to 3D models.
OS Compatibility: Windows, macOS
SketchUp Version: Tested on SketchUp 2024.
The beta installation will expire after 2 months of use.
