Curic Measure++
Curic Measure++
Curic Measure++ is a plugin that extends the functionality of the Tape Measure tool in SketchUp. It allows for easy, quick, and convenient measurements to gather detailed size and angle information. This plugin enables users to access the necessary measurements efficiently and seamlessly.
Key Features:
-
Dual-Laser Measure - Shoots perpendicular rays from a face in both directions to measure the distance to the opposite face. Useful for checking room height, clear space, or object thickness (e.g., walls, floors, panels).
-
Guide Grid Measure - Displays intersection points between guides and measures distances and angles between them. Ideal for working with column grids and layout lines.
-
Object Info - Instantly displays an object’s length, width, and height. It also detects basic geometric shapes, such as boxes, cylinders, long bars, and thin panels, and adjusts the display of information accordingly.
- Object Distance - Check the distance from an object to nearby geometry, including guides, edges, faces, or axes -optimized even when working in a 2D view.
- Array Measurement - Recognizes objects copied using move or rotate (e.g., stairs, beams, circular arrays), measures spacing, detects the center, and counts instances. Fully supports Dynamic Components.
- Anchor Point - Pin any vertex as a fixed reference point. Even if geometry moves, the coordinate remains visible and usable for further measurements.
- Virtual Dimension - Pin a virtual dimension between two picked points or edges. These dimensions remain attached to the original geometry and update automatically, ideal for tracking measurements without cluttering the model.
- Reference Plane - Create a reference plane from any face to measure distances and angles relative to it.
- Angle Between Edges/Faces - Press Shift and hover two edges or faces to measure the angle between them. Useful for checking slopes, intersecting surfaces, or verifying alignment.
- Opening Detection - Hover over a face with a rectangular opening (e.g., a door or window), and the plugin will automatically detect and display its width and height.
- Arc Info - Hover over a vertex on an arc or circle to view key geometric data, including center point, radius, and arc angle.
- Parallel Gap - Hover over an edge on a face to measure the parallel distance to another edge on the same face - ideal for checking widths of slabs, stairs, or other bounded planar shapes.
- Slope Angles - Get instant feedback on a surface’s slope in both degrees and percentage, especially useful for roofs, ramps, and terrain modeling.
The plugin leverages SketchUp 23's new Overlay feature and later versions, providing an entirely new experience. With Overlay, the plugin operates smoothly, just like the native features of Tape Measure, without requiring additional shortcuts for new commands. As it is not a Ruby tool, this plugin offers seamless and convenient integration, allowing Tape Measure to function precisely and efficiently as expected.
How to Use:
Curic Measure++ is designed for simplicity. Activate it once, and the Tape Measure tool will automatically provide additional dimensional information as you work.
To activate Curic Measure++:
- Click the Curic Measure++ icon on the toolbar.
- Go to Tools > Curic > Measure++ > Toggle Measure++.
- Open the Overlays window (Window > Overlays) and enable Curic Measure++.
We appreciate your interest in our plugin and hope it meets your expectations. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
